Sri Lankabhimanaya W.D. Pandith Amaradewa.

         W.D. Pandith Amaradewa's born name is "Wannakuwattawaduge Don Albert Perera". His adopted popular name is "Amaradewa". He was born in 5th December 1927 at Moratuwa Sri Lanka. He introduces as "Maestro of Sri Lankan Music" (Helayay Maha Gandarvaya) in sometimes. Pandith Amaradewa was a Sri Lankan vocalist, violinist, and composer. He was used main traditional instruments are sitars,tablas, and harmoniums.  

                                    
                       Pandith Amaradewa was consulted experts about folk music in 1950. In doing so, he created a uniquely sinhalese music style. After as a result, to most important his knowledge to other artists. They are "Sanath Nandasiri", "Victor Rathnayaka", "T.M. Jayarathna", "Sunil Edirisingha" and "Gunadasa Kapuge" etc...        

                       Most beautiful, creative, music creations are created by Pandith Amaradewa. Among them, "Hanthana Sihine", "Sadha Tharu Nihadai", "Sannaliyane", "Ira Hada Payana", "Sasara Wasana Thuru", and "Giman Harina Diyaba Dige" etc....

                       Pandith Amaradewa was won the most awards. In addition, he was became respect in other countries. This awards are The "Philippine Ramon Magsaysay" Award (2001), Indian "Padma Sri" Award (2002), Sri Lankan "President's award of "Kala Keerthi" (1986), "Deshamanya" Award (1998) and French Goverment awarded him the prestigious honour in 2003.

                      Furthermore, the university of "Kelaniya" conferred on him the degree of "Doctor of Philosophy" (fine arts) honoris causa in 1991 and the university of "Ruhuna and Peradeniya" conferred on him the degree of "Doctor of Letters" honoris causa in 1993,1998. Still, Amaradewa was most popular artist according to "Nielsen Media". He has represented our country in many forums in the "UNESCO and 1967 Manila".

                     In 1972, Amaradewa composed the music for the Maldivian National Anthem (Gaumi Salaam) at the request of Maldivian goverment.

                     Pandith Amaradewa died at the age of 88 on 3rd November 2016 because heart failure. A state funeral was held by the goverment followed by a week of national mourning.

                      Pandith Amaradewa is immortal forever in the world.
