Song Writer Sunil Shantha
"Sunil Shantha" born name is " Baddaliyanage Don Joseph". He adopted name is "Sunil Shantha". He was born on 14th April 1915. "Sunil Shantha" was a Sri lankan composer, singer, and lyricist. He was educated at St. Benedict's college in Colombo and St. Alosias.
He was pivotal in the development of sinhala music and folk songs. He composed the beloved soundtracks to "Rekava" and "Sandeshaya" films in 1956, 1960. Sunil Shantha had serviced as a teacher in "Mount Kalvari school. Furthermore, he had learned about music in "Shanthi Nikethana". In addition, he was joined Sri Lankan radio service in 1948. As well as, he produced several experiment works.
"olu pipila wila lela denawa" song is written by him and it is his first song. Moreover, his creations are, "Hela Ridi Walawa", "Sunil Hada", "Guvan Thotilla" and "Mihiriywa" and etc...
Sunil Shantha died on 11th April 1981. Then he was 65 years. So, he is great person to our society and his service is great.
